Fear can be good. Your hiking a mountain and get close to the cliff, fear kicks in and you back away. This is a healthy, normal reaction in humans. Fear is our protection against pending danger.

But with phobias, fear becomes irrational or in excess. Humans can develop phobias over their lifetimes or as a child. Fear of Intimacy, fear of spiders, social situations, shyness or fear of flying can interrupt and hamper our everyday lives.

Phobias do not discriminate. Rich people, poor people, black or white can develop these self defeating behaviors. I personally was extremely shy. I defeated my fear and learned How to Be Less Shy through self hypnosis techniques.
